Sarah Langlotz studied Economics at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena. From 2013 to 2018, she worked as a research assistant at the Chair of International Economics and Development Policy under Prof. Dr. Axel Dreher at Heidelberg University. During her doctoral studies, she was a visiting researcher at Université Libre de Bruxelles and worked part-time for the Science Policy Research Unit at the University of Sussex. In 2018, she defended her doctoral thesis, entitled “Conflict, Income Shocks, and Foreign Policy: Macro- and Micro-Level Evidence.” Her dissertation was supervised by Prof. Dr. Axel Dreher and Prof. Philip Verwimp and received the first prize for excellent and practice-oriented development research from the Development Economics Committee of the Verein für Socialpolitik and KfW Development Bank. Following her PhD, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Heidelberg University at the Chair of International Economics and Development Policy (Prof. Dr. Axel Dreher), at the Heidelberg Institute of Global Health, and as an Akademische Rätin a. Z. at the Chair of Development Economics held by Prof. Dr. Andreas Fuchs at the University of Göttingen.

Her research has been published in renowned academic journals such as the Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Applied Econometrics, European Economic Review, and Journal of Health Economics.

At the Faculty of Business and Economics, she will primarily teach courses in the undergraduate and graduate economics programmes, including a lecture on Introduction to Development Economics and a seminar on Empirical Analysis of Armed Conflicts.
