The evaluation commissions are formed ad hoc at the University of Göttingen and advertised among the members of the evaluation pool. All pool members who are unbiased - i.e. who are neither working in the degree programme to be assessed nor belong to a faculty concerned - can apply.Composition of the evaluation commissions
The evaluation commissions are made up of three lecturers with voting rights, including at least one university lecturer/professor and two students with voting rights. The University's Equal Opportunities Officer and representatives of the Student and Academic Services Department may participate in an advisory capacity without voting rights.
Internal accreditation procedure
For each cluster, an internal accreditation will initially take place once in the period up to winter semester 26/27; after the first round of internal accreditation, a new accreditation cycle of 6 years begins for the study programmes/cluster.
In our quality management process, an evaluation commission is responsible for the internal evaluation; an accreditation recommendation is issued for each study programme in a cluster. The evaluation commission’s assessment is based on the results of the decentralised procedure, the opinions of the external experts involved, current regulations, module catalogues and information materials as well as the opportunity to hold discussions with people involved in the degree programme. The commission examines the fulfilment of the quality and profile objectives formulated by the Senate and agrees on an accreditation recommendation. The faculty involved in the degree programme is given the opportunity to comment. The accreditation decision is ultimately made by the Presidential Board.
The work of the evaluation commission is supported by the Department of Student and Academic Services. An evaluation commission should not be active for longer than 4 months. Within this framework, the members of the commission decide on the organisation of meetings, division of tasks while writing parts of the assessment report, or preparation for faculty hearings.
Evaluation Pool
All members of the University who are interested in helping to shape the quality development of teaching can become members of the evaluation pool. Admission into the pool is by nomination by a body of the University, a faculty or the student body; for students, it is also possible to advertise university wide.
